IMPORTANT:  If you have not already done so, please log onto My CBE Powerschool online booking system to book a conference time.  We will have a short dry run on Tuesday afternoon to make sure our virtual communication systems are working.  During this time, I will also have a short video to present, which will include things like our classroom environment, a few of our finished projects, as well as some of our work in progress.  I look forward to seeing you then!

The kids had another fun-filled day of learning.  The highlight was using computers for the first time.  All students were very patient, waiting for help if they required it to log in, and ALL students were able to successfully get logged onto the computer, as well as into their Raz-Kids account.  For Monday, everyone will have their own computer card with all of their login information for each of the accounts we will bw using throughout the year.  Next time we have the computers, students will get to explore Google Drive, Gmail and Google Classroom.

Secret Question:  What is the teacher username for Raz-Kids this year?

Everyone has been having a great time exploring the various guided reading books in their bins.  Today we chose group names and I was able to gather some more information about the level and types of books suited to each child.

In writing, we are focusing on the editing process, using checklists and ensuring all of our work is double-spaced so that we are able to revise our work clearly.  We have also been exploring different ways to form and start sentences, so that our writing is more interesting for the reader.

During math, we explored a variety of ways to EXPLAIN our thinking when adding two and three digit numbers.  This may sound easy, but we discovered that it is challenging to use math vocabulary when explaining concepts, and takes some extra time and thought to write each step down as we are solving more complex equations.

Our Alberta pages in the visual journals are really coming together.  Hopefully, you will be able to see some of our amazing work during our virtual conferences next week.  More information on that to come.

Stay tuned!
